After his separation from Virginia McNeil, Chagall married Valentina Brodsky, known as Vava, in July 1952. The symbiotic relationship is celebrated in glittering images as an homage to Paris, also called the Paris Series, as here in front of the Sacré-Cœur on Montmartre; the lovers appear in an almost sculptural configuration and the artist presents them with the artist delivers an opulent bouquet of flowers as inspiration
