On wove paper (papier vélin), with watermark "Arches", with a light stripe in the paper at the upper left and right corner, overall in very nice print quality and condition.

Comments

Of these dormant young women's nudes, there are two states of printing that were not recognised as such by Mourlot and Bloch. Felix Reusse states in the catalogue of the Graphikmuseum Pablo Picasso Münster that the present sheet can clearly be assigned to the second state, which appeared as an edition of 50 copies. Because of the similarity of the drawing to the first state, this difference was not noticed by the authors of the earlier catalogue raisonnés

Erläuterungen

Von diesen ruhenden jungen Frauenakten gibt es zwei Druckzustände, die von Mourlot und Bloch nicht als solche erkannt worden sind. Felix Reusse legt im Katalog des Graphikmuseum Pablo Picasso Münster dar, dass das vorliegende Blatt eindeutig dem zweiten Zustand zuzuordnen sei, das als Auflage in 50 Exemplaren erschien. Aufgrund der Ähnlichkeit der Zeichnung zum 1. Zustand fiel dieser Unterschied den Autoren der früheren Werkverzeichnisse nicht auf. Sehr schöne, ausgewogene Komposition
