    Comments

The drawing is a study for the front of a brochure published in December 1948 to promote the project "La Basilique Universelle du Pardon et de la Paix". After the end of the Second World War, Édouard Trouin and Le Corbusier, under the influence of Père Marie-Alain Couturier, wanted to build a spiritual centre with a hotel and flats in Provence. They invited numerous artists (including Léger, Matisse, Picasso or Rouault) to participate in the project with artistic works. This idea was not realised. We thank Mrs. Irus Hansma for the valuable information

Sie luden zahlreiche Künstler (u.a.
