    In addition to the question of the "primordial beginnings of art", Paul Klee was concerned with children's drawings, Art Brut and non-European art. But Klee was also fascinated by prehistoric excavations, as evidenced by postcards, among other things. The present work may be seen as a testimony to this fascination.

    Sauber in der Erhaltung, Knick im Oberrand der Unterlage, auf der Kante der Zeichnung. Die Tinte der ursprünglichen Zeichnung vermutlich etwas verblasst

    Erläuterungen

    Neben der Frage nach den "Uranfängen von der Kunst" beschäftigte sich Paul Klee mit Kinderzeichnungen, Art Brut sowie nichteuropäischer Kunst. Klee war aber auch von prähistorischen Ausgrabungen fasziniert, was unter anderem durch Postkarten belegt ist. Die vorliegende Arbeit mag als Zeugnis dieser Faszination gesehen werden
