Soto is considered one of the most important representatives of kinetic art and "optical art" in South America and Europe. His "vibration pictures", consisting of thin pendulum rods arranged in rows and fixed in front of finely striped, flat surfaces, are among the most important achievements in "Op Art". In the work offered here, the metal rods are additionally arranged to reach into the space, which irritates and challenges visual habits. The fine painting of the black rods in violet and red against the white-striped black ground evokes two flickering, "virtual" paintings. A wonderful work of optical-kinetic art
