    Comments

    The delicate work is stylistically and motivically related to the painting Small Plane Tree, c. 1891, now in the Musée d'art et d'histoire in Geneva. Hodler painted the fine-structured branches and leaves of the little tree with a pointed brush, while he probably used a brush handle to carve the structure of the forest edge in the middle ground

    Erläuterungen

    Das zierliche Werk ist stilistisch und motivisch mit dem Gemälde "Kleine Platane", um 1891, heute im Musée d'art et d'histoire in Genf, verwandt. Hodler malte das feingliederige Ast- und Blattwerk des Bäumchens mit einem spitzen Pinsel, während er die Einritzungen für die Strukturierung des Waldsaums im Mittelgrund wohl mit dem Pinselstiel ausführte
