    Condition

    Nice impression on light laid paper, with watermark "Original Oxford Mill" and "Crowned Crest", Reed/Shapiro, watermark 11, with wide paper margin. In the upper margin neatly backed tear reaching to approx. 8 mm into the image, fold in the outer left margin. Small missing parts in upper left and lower outer margin, minimal light margin

    Comments

    Early print, according to Delteil and Reed/Shapiro in state IV. Delteil lists a total of 17, Reed/Shapiro 22 states of revision. In the Boston catalogue of 1984, no copy of this early state could be shown. Prints of this state are extremely rare, in the auction catalogue of the Vente Degas of 1918 there are 8 state prints before the addition of the flowers in the upper background

    Group lot

    With: Contemporary heliogravure of the same sheet in II state, described by Reed/Shapiro under 14/II/a and shown in the exhibition Boston 1984.
    Perfect impression on light cardboard, stamped lower right "Succession Ed. Degas" in oval (faded). Inscribed in ink on the reverse: "Mademoiselle Marguerite Degas / Madame Fèvre" and in pencil in the upper margin "Mademoiselle Marguerite Degas (Madame Fèvre) / par Degas 1865". Of extreme rarity. - Together 2 sheets

    Schöner Druck auf leichtem Bütten, mit Wasserzeichen "Original Oxford Mill" und "Bekröntes Wappen", Reed/Shapiro, Wz. 11, mit breitem Papierrand. Im Oberrand sauber hinterlegter Einriss bis ca. 8 mm in die Darstellung reichend, links im äusseren Rand Falte. Links oben und im unteren äusseren Rand kleine Fehlstellen, minimaler Lichtrand

    Frühdruck, nach Delteil und Reed/Shapiro im IV. Zustand. Delteil führt gesamthaft 17, Reed/Shapiro 22 Überarbeitungszustände auf. Im Katalog von Boston 1984 konnte kein Exemplar dieses Frühzustandes gezeigt werden. Drucke dieses Zustandes sind von extremer Seltenheit, im Auktionskatalog der Vente Degas von 1918 figurieren 8 Zustandsdrucke vor der Addition der Blumen im oberen Hintergrund
