Ludwik Kazimierz Władysław Markus lived in Paris since 1903 and became an early follower of Cubism. On the advice of Guillaume Apollinaire, he Frenchified his name in 1910 and took the name of a village in the southwest of Paris. The still life, a so-called "fixé sous verre", was created in the same year as his first solo exhibition (16-31 October 1926) at Jeanne Bucher's gallery and was probably shown there

Tadellos in der Erhaltung
Ludwik Kazimierz Władysław Markus lebte seit 1903 in Paris und wurde schon früh Anhänger des Kubismus. Auf Anraten von Guillaume Apollinaire französisierte er seinen Namen 1910 und nahm den Namen einer im Südwesten von Paris gelegenen Ortschaft an. Das Stillleben, ein sogenanntes "fixé sous verre", ist im selben Jahr seiner ersten Einzelausstellung (16.-31. Oktober 1926) in der Galerie von Jeanne Bucher entstanden und dürfte dort gezeigt worden sein
