    Comments

After his experiences in World War I, Léger went into exile in the USA from 1940 to 1945. The works created there become more flat and graphic, the color palette is often reduced to the primary colors and their mixtures. During his time in New York, he taught at Yale University in New Haven. His late style, which he developed further after his return to France in 1946, can unmistakably be seen as the breeding ground for the “Pop Art” that emerged shortly after Léger's death. In terms of motifs, he takes up the classic “genres”, with the still lifes taking a special place. A very nicely composed arrangement with a flower pot

Während seiner Zeit in New York unterrichtet er an der Yale University in New Haven.
