    Current exhibition

Exhibitions are shown in the rooms of Galerie Kornfeld outside the auction period in autumn and in winter. Currently there is no exhibition. Past exhibitions document the activities of the past years.

We regularly hold exhibitions of the work of important contemporary artists as well as thematic exhibitions, such as on the occasion of the publication of a catalogue raisonné or about printing techniques.

Galerie Kornfeld can look back on a long history of exhibitions. Early exhibitions presented by Gutekunst & Klipstein focused on the gallery's traditional areas of business, such as Old Master prints and drawings. An exhibition of the work of Ferdinand Hodler was shown for the first time in 1921. This was followed from 1924 by exhibitions of graphic artworks by modern and contemporary artists, including Pierre Bonnard, Edgar Degas, Henri Matisse, Edvard Munch, Pablo Picasso, Camille Pisarro, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Maurice Utrillo and Édouard Vuillard.

During a big exhibition of Ernst Ludwig Kirchner at the Kunsthalle Bern in 1932, his graphic works were shown at Gutekunst & Klipstein. August Klipstein, who in addition to Ernst Ludwig Kirchner also had a good relationship with Käthe Kollwitz, regularly exhibited the work of both these artists until the end of the 1930s.

Exhibition activity picked up again after the move to Villa Villette at Laupenstrasse 49 in 1944 and during the early 1950s. Since then many important exhibitions have been shown, some of them also at the Zurich branch at Titlisstrasse 48 which was opened in 1970, and from 1980 at the current premises at Villa Thurmau at Laupenstrasse 41.
