Commentaires

This painting, from the early period of André Lhote, was created during the artist's transitional phase between Post-Impressionism, Fauvism, and the beginnings of Cubism. In it, Lhote combines the intense, luminous colours of Fauvism with a structured application of paint as well as black and dark blue contours, which already strongly recall the teachings of Paul Cézanne and early Cubism. In this depiction of a park with a blossoming chestnut tree and a path, the colours framed by bold lines create spatial depth.

Erläuterungen

Das aus der Frühphase von André Lhote stammende Gemälde entstand in der Übergangszeit des Künstlers zwischen Postimpressionismus, Fauvismus und beginnendem Kubismus. Lhote kombiniert darin die intensiven, leuchtenden Farben des Fauvismus mit einem strukturierten Farbauftrag sowie mit schwarzen und dunkelblauen Konturen, die bereits stark an die Lehren von Paul Cézanne und den frühen Kubismus erinnern. In dieser Darstellung eines Parks mit einem blühenden Kastanienbaum und einem Weg erzeugen die von kräftigen Linien umrahmten Farben die räumliche Tiefe.
