Commentaires

The works of Alfred Kubin are characterized by the depiction of fantastic dream visions. In his works created around the turn of the century, dark and bizarre fantasies prevail, which he rendered as ink drawings using a special technique with carefully sprayed and washed areas on the frequently used cadastral paper. Here, it is a conductor who tries to maintain an order that has long since ceased to exist. The chandelier sways, and a trumpet and a flute protrude from the orchestra pit.

Erläuterungen

Die Werke von Alfred Kubin sind durch die Darstellung fantastischer Traumvisionen geprägt. In seinen um die Jahrhundertwende entstandenen Arbeiten herrschen düster-skurrile Fantasien vor, die er als Tuschezeichnungen in einer speziellen Technik mit sorgfältig gespritzten und lavierten Partien auf das oft verwendete Katasterpapier brachte. Hier ist es ein Dirigent, der versucht, eine Ordnung aufrechtzuerhalten, die es schon lange nicht mehr gibt. Der Kronleuchter wankt, aus dem Orchestergraben ragen eine Trompete und eine Flöte.
