    Commentaires

The illustration was used in André Breton's 1934 publication "L'air de l'eau". The book "L'air de l'eau" is considered the last major work that Alberto Giacometti created in collaboration with the Surrealists and is one of the most important illustrated books of this period. Shortly afterwards, in December 1934, Alberto Giacometti broke with the circle of Surrealists and turned back to the figurative.
