Commentaires

The present drawing is a design for the cover page of the brochure with the text of the lecture "Le sentiment national suisse" by the Ticino writer Francesco Chiesa, published in 1913. Hodler depicted a standing mercenary with a two-handed sword.

Die vorliegende Zeichnung ist ein Entwurf zur Titelseite der Broschüre mit dem 1913 publizierten Text des Vortrages "Le sentiment national suisse" des Tessiner Schriftstellers Francesco Chiesa. Hodler stellte einen stehenden Landsknecht mit einem zweihändigen Schwert dar.
