Minimal studio traces and signs of wear at the sheet edges. Excellent impression in particularly fine condition
The signature in ink is unusual, but was mostly used on very early impressions. An exceptionally rich and beautiful impression.
The theme 'Die Einsamen' (a couple on the beach seen from behind) first occupied Munch in 1891. The oil painting created at that time is now lost, but it is documented by photographs from 1892 and 1893. In 1899, the subject was realised as a woodcut (see lot 841). The sheet was later published in the portfolio by Meier-Graefe from 1895 in editions of 10 on Japan and 55 on firm wove paper. As an early impression and probably a trial proof, very rare. Printed by Sabo or Angerer.
An amicable agreement was reached with the heirs of Curt Glaser, represented by the Berlin law firm 'S+N Rechtsanwälte'. The current sale is taking place with the consent of the heirs of Curt Glaser and is therefore free of any claims. The amicable agreement has been recorded in the Lost Art Database of the German Lost Art Foundation.

An den Blatträndern minime Atelier- und Gebrauchsspuren. Ausgezeichneter Druck in besonders schönem Zustand
