Commentaires

With his bagatelles or excerpts, Franz Gertsch found a way to fragment the large-format woodcuts into smaller motifs. The present sheet is an excerpt from the left side of the large woodcut "Winter" from 2016 (127.8x190 cm). This excerpt was printed in 2018 in an edition of four copies and a trial proof in the colours cobalt blue medium and ivory black (tube) by Franz, Maria, Albrecht, and Bendicht Gertsch.

Erläuterungen

Mit seinen Bagatellen oder Ausschnitten fand Franz Gertsch eine Möglichkeit, die grossformatigen Holzschnitte in kleinere Motive zu fragmentieren. Das vorliegende Blatt ist ein Ausschnitt aus der linken Seite des grossen Holzschnitts "Winter" von 2016 (127,8x190 cm). Dieser Ausschnitt wurde 2018 in einer Auflage von vier Exemplaren und einem Probedruck in den Farben Kobaltblau mittel und Elfenbeinschwarz (Tube) von Franz, Maria, Albrecht und Bendicht Gertsch gedruckt.
