    Commentaires

The Upper Austrian Gunter Damisch, professor at the Academy of Fine Arts, Vienna, and universally esteemed artist, was regarded as the style-defining "Neue Wilde". He had studios in Vienna and in Freidegg, around 100 kilometres west of the capital. In addition to powerful large-scale paintings such as this one, his oeuvre includes sculptures, drawings, photographs and prints. His unmistakable, compelling and consistently formulated repertoire of colour and form has made him one of the internationally important representatives of contemporary Austrian art. He has has received numerous awards, including the Anton Faistauer Prize of the Province of Salzburg (1996) and the Culture Prize of the Province of Lower Austria (2011).
