Slight discolouration in the paper, minimal paper loss on the right. The laid paper firmly mounted on support. In very fine condition
The sheet is one of a group of 15 drawings that Odilon Redon created for the illustrations of Gustave Flaubert's book "La Tentation de Saint-Antoine". In addition to the 24-part series of lithographs, the book itself was to be illustrated with woodcuts. The motif was realised in sheet XV "Voici la bonne-déesse, l'indienne des montagnes" (Mellerio 148). Redon gave the 15 preparatory drawings to the publisher Ambroise Vollard. Apart from the title page, 14 of them ended up in an American collection and were sold at auction in Bern in 1974. Thematically, the sheet is part of the series of "Yeux clos", the women with closed eyes that allude to the transcendental. A very beautiful work.

Leichte Verfärbungen im Papier, rechts minimer Papierverlust. Das Bütten fest auf Unterlage montiert. In sehr schöner Erhaltung
