Zurich 1963, Kunsthaus, Alberto Magnelli, cat. no. 46 (there titled "Pierres sur toile goudronnée" and erroneously depicted in the catalogue as a different work under ill. no. 6), verso with label
On the original stretcher, with the old nailing. In very good condition. In a moulded frame, probably designed by the artist
"Alberto Magnelli is a painter-poet of our time [...] Not with the eyes of the Impressionist, who sees and constructs a whole starting from a flood of details, but with a reductive and mathematical power of observation, in the sense that it tends to dissolve into a pre-organised, intellectual and systematic pictorial idea." (Enrico Somare, in: Preface to Magnelli's exhibition at the Pesaro Gallery, Milan, 1929).

In sehr guter Erhaltung.
