Impeccable condition
In 1817, Corot's father bought a country house in Ville-d'Avray, a hamlet about 12 kilometres west of the centre of Paris. Corot spent his weekends there as a child and later, as a painter, found the motifs for his landscape paintings particularly around the ponds. These ponds, which are now a national monument, were partly used as a water reservoir for the fountains of the Château de Saint-Cloud.
