The back of the canvas overpainted with opaque white, underneath is probably a discarded oil painting. In the old nailing, fresh in colour and in beautiful condition, with smallest scratches at lower right
Mystical depiction of a pond surrounded by trees and shrubs. In 1921 - after graduating from the Basel Gewerbeschule - Neuhaus stayed on the Oschwand as a painting pupil of Cuno Amiet, where he gradually broke away from works in a dark-toned manner

Die Rückseite der Leinwand mit Deckweiss übermalt, darunter befindet sich wohl ein verworfenes Ölbild. In der alten Nagelung, farbfrisch und in schöner Erhaltung, rechts unten mit kleinsten Kratzern
Mystische Darstellung eines Teiches umgeben von Bäumen und Sträuchern. Neuhaus hielt sich 1921 - nach der Absolvierung der Basler Gewerbeschule - als Malschüler bei Cuno Amiet auf der Oschwand auf, wo er sich allmählich von Arbeiten in dunkeltöniger Manier loslöste
