Commentaires

The sheet "FOX" is, together with the drypoint work by Picasso "Nature morte à la bouteille de marc", the most important graphic work of Cubism. Printed by Eugène Delâtre in Paris and published by Daniel-Henry Kahnweiler in 1912. The print sold poorly before 1914, so that most of the edition ended up in the sequestration auction of the Kahnweiler estate in 1923

The title "FOX" refers to a bar near the Saint-Lazare station where artists and poets often met in the years before 1914

Das Blatt "FOX" ist zusammen mit der Kaltnadelarbeit von Picasso "Nature morte à la bouteille de marc" die wichtigste graphische Arbeit des Kubismus. Gedruckt von Eugène Delâtre in Paris und 1912 von Daniel-Henry Kahnweiler publiziert. Das Blatt verkaufte sich vor 1914 schlecht, so dass der grösste Teil der Auflage 1923 in die Sequesterauktion des Besitzes Kahnweiler gelangte
