On strong watercolour paper, mounted on cardboard, clean in condition.
After a stroke in 1901, Anker's right hand remained paralysed so that he could no longer work on large-format works. He then specialised in the medium of watercolour and probably created about 600 watercolours by the end of his life. The theme of educated peasants runs through his work. He usually found his models in Ins, where he settled during the summer months from 1860 and permanently from 1890.

Bern 1960, Kunstmuseum Bern, Albert Anker,
