GALERIE KORNFELD  Richard Kisling, Sammler / Collector Werke aus der ehemaligen Sammlung von Richard Kisling (1862–1917), Zürich Richard Kisling, mit vollemNamen Salo- mon Richard Kisling, wurde 1862 in Zürich geboren. Als Kind beschäftige er sich mit Musik, speziell zugetan war er dem Chorgesang und dem Klavierspiel. Dies stand ganz in der Tradition seiner Familie. Sein Vater Salomon Kisling war während 25 Jahren Präsident des Ver- waltungsrates und privater Aktionär der Theatergesellschaft Zürich. Diese baute nach dem Brand des alten Theaters, in welchem sich heute das Obergericht befindet, 1891 ein neues Stadttheater, das heutige Opernhaus Zürich. Richard Kisling war ebenfalls Mitglied der Ton- hallengesellschaft Zürich und zudem ein einflussreiches Vorstands- und Kommissionsmitglied der 1896 gegrün- deten Zürcher Kunstgesellschaft. Als er ab 1904 Mitglied der Ausstellungskom- mission wurde, begann seine private Sammeltätigkeit mit dem Erwerb erster Werke von Cuno Amiet, Ferdinand Hod- ler und Giovanni Giacometti. Works from the former collection of the late Richard Kisling (1862–1917), Zurich Richard Kisling, whose full name was Salomon Richard Kisling, was born in Zurich in 1862. As a child he was inte­ rested in music, especially in choral singing and playing the piano. This was very much in the tradition of his family. His father Salomon Kisling was the president of the board of directors and private shareholder of the Zurich Theatre Company for 25 years. After the fire of the old theatre, which today houses the High Court, this company built a new city theatre in 1891, today’s Zurich Opera House. Richard Kisling was also a member of the Zurich Tonhalle Society and an influential member of the board and commission of the Zurich Art Society, founded in 1896. When he became a member of the exhibition commission in 1904, his pri- vate collecting activities began with the acquisition of the first works by Cuno Amiet, Ferdinand Hodler and Giovanni Giacometti.
